How to increase your potential and take action

“He/she is someone with great potential” or “This idea/project has great potential”. We’ve all heard it and does sound like a complement, right? 🙂 Potential can certainly exist without action, but it’s only through action that it can be realized. Same as goals. Without taking action both of them remain unrealized.
There are several ways you can increase your potential and ability to take action:
1. Set clear goals! Define specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.
2. Have a Priority Goal: It should be lofty enough to induce some anxiety and discomfort in you.
3. Identify the necessary actions needed to achieve those goals. Use action verbs for that.
4. Write them by hand. Do not put a post-it on the fridge (you’ll get used to seeing it), find another way to remind yourself 😊
5. Avoid sharing your goals before you have actually taken any of the steps above. It may lead to short-term validation without actually putting you into action.
6. Set goals in 12-week or 3-month interval.
7. Step out of your comfort zone – remember that anxiety from p.2 😛 Challenge yourself to try new ways. This expands your capabilities and builds confidence in taking action.
8. Develop a growth mindset: your brain possesses the power of neuroplasticity and your abilities and intelligence can be developed further – use it! A growth mindset encourages you to see challenges as opportunities for growth and helps overcome fear of failure.
9. Remember how you can eat an elephant (“bite by bite” 😄 ) i.e. break your action plan into smaller manageable steps.
10. Use the power of visualization to keep your motivation. Imagine/Contemplate about the benefits of a successful end state in comparison to failure. ✨
11. Develop discipline and consistency: Set up routines and establish habits that align with your goal.
12. Overcome fear and self-doubt: Identify and address any limiting beliefs and behaviours that may be hindering your progress.
13. Practice self-compassion and give yourself credit for your efforts. Celebrate small victories along the way. 🎖
Increasing your potential and achieving your goals is a gradual process that requires commitment, perseverance, and self-reflection. Start small, celebrate progress, and build upon your successes.
